A. Announcements Members
1. Thea Orozco from That Yarn Store announced a Charity Knit-Along on Saturday, December 9, from 9-11. They will be knitting for Stitches from the Heart and Knitzilla.
2. Evelyn announced the Holiday Cookie Party being held by JCK to thank Sparr Heights Community Center for their generosity in allowing us the use of their facility for our meetings. The party will be Monday, December 11, from 11:00-1:00. We will provide cookies for those who come to have lunch at the Center that day. Some of the cookies will be put in baggies to give to those who have to leave immediately after the lunch. JCK members willing to bake cookies can sign up with Marsha.
B. Philanthropy Judy Gregory, VP Philanthropy
1. Judy reported that Afghans for Afghans sent a shipment last month of a final total of 4,050 warm items (their original goal had been 900)!! Several of our members contributed wool items for that shipment.
2. Michelle Tang thanked those who had made/bought mittens for her friends project of sending mittens to a church mission in New York City for the children there for the holidays. She received 11 pairs of mittens from our group. She now reports that, as of 12/10, her friend in New York has collected/received at least 472 pairs of mittens in one month!!
3. Several members of our group contributed hats and scarves to the Love Scarf Project, sponsored by That Yarn Shop. These items go to cancer patients at City of Hope. As of December 10, the project had collected 75 scarves and 21 hats!
