Announcements Members
1. Lee McIntyre told us that she visited our member Lynne Emery, who has had several surgeries and been ill on and off for many months. Lee reported that Lynne is doing better in recovery from her last surgery and will start chemotherapy after her recovery is more complete. Lynne, we miss you and are hoping you will be much better soon! 2 . Michelle Tang announced that there is a website called crochetme.com. They are holding a crochet contest for amigurumi animals to be used in the sites calendar:
http:// www.crochetme.com.
3 . Evelyn received a request through the JCK website from a local person who is looking for someone who would knit two Christmas stockings for her grandsons, to be completed by
12/1/10 . She will supply yarn and help choose a pattern. She will pay $175 per stocking. If you are interested, you should let Evelyn know and you can contact the woman directly: Diane Berger, 818-249-4415. After the meeting, an email was sent to the members regarding this. E. Philanthropy Judy Gregory, VP Philanthropy 1. Jerri Thomson reminded us that Knots of Love (KOL) is holding a relay to raise money. They are asking interested people to knit as many hats as they can during the month of September 15 to October 15 and solicit sponsors to pay so much for each hat knit (suggested amount $1.00 per hat donation). The sponsors could also just make a 1-time contribution. The hats and money will go to KOL, and the money will be used for mailing expenses. These hats should be 7 high, for medium heads, and 8-10 high for large. The circumference should be 22-24. The lists of required yarns as well as patterns are listed on the KOL website: http://www.knots-of-love.org . We can use whatever patterns we like but should stay away from anything lacy. They prefer hats done without seams, using circular needles. Jerri would like us to use a donation slip and put it and our item in a plastic baggie. She will continue to collect and periodically deliver our hats to KOL. For more information or questions, contact Jerri T: 818-790-8440 or jqthomson@sbcglobal.net. 2. Judy announced that her new pattern for the crocheted prayer shawl is now on the Kraemer website. She thanked Lili Horjea and Sue Dietel for test-knitting the pattern for her. Several of Judys other patterns are shown on the site, where she is listed by her married name, Judy Head. Kraemer has supported our guild and given us lots of yarn, and Judy said there are many lovely free patterns on this site. Her cute felted pink pig pattern is also there: http://www.kraemeryarns.com . 4.
