    7:10pm: Meeting Called to Order   Evelyn Van Orden, President    13 members were present.
    A. Minutes    Marsha Stoddard
        Minutes of the May meeting were posted on the website and a hardcopy provided at the meeting. They were approved.
    B. Treasurer's Report    Jerri Nicol
        1. Jerri reported that the balance in our treasury is $908.73 (no change since last month).
    C. Announcements    Members

        1. Cathy Wacker thanked Kimberly Smith and Mary Kaye Busalachi for the yummy treats.

        2. Lynne Emery has been very sick for some weeks. Marsha will send a card from JCK.
        3. Evelyn announced that the L.A. County Fair runs from September 5 until October 4. We can buy tickets online for less money. Those who wish to submit something for the Needle Arts competition need to fill out an entry form and mail it by July 9. The entries need to be shipped or hand delivered by July 14 and picked up October 6. There are also competitions. The website contains entry, admission, and parking fees, class information, entry forms, and lots more information: http://www.lacountyfair.com/2009.
        4. Evelyn suggested that we enter the baby blanket designed and knitted by some of our members several years ago. It was moved, seconded, and passed to submit the blanket as an entry in the original design category after first checking with Jerri Nicol and Diane Larsen, who were instrumental in the creation of this blanket.
        5. Judy Gregory’s sister lives in Florida but visited us one meeting when she was here with Judy. She recently sent a huge box of baby blankets, hats, and sweaters that she knit for our charities.
        6. Former member Barbara Shaw can no longer knit, due to arthritis. She sent several bags of yarn from her stash as well as unfinished projects for us to use for our charities.
    D. Philanthropy    Judy Gregory, VP Philanthropy
        1. Judy informed us that Afghans for Afghanistan are continuing to request blankets and socks for ongoing shipments to hospitals. These items need to be made of at least 75% wool. Judy also brought some Flat Feet Sock Yarn, which are large knitted pieces to be unraveled and made into socks or baby things. This wool yarn can be knit with another strand of wool if we wish to use larger needles for the project.
        2. Cathy Wacker took some of her beautiful blankets to Learning Works, a center for young unwed mothers in Pasadena.
        3. Several members received thank you notes from Christ Child Society for the items that Betty Molinaro recently collected from our group and took to them.
        4. Kimberly Smith wants to arrange a Saturday in August (tentatively the 22nd) for us to go and visit her Neonatal Unit at L.A. County Hospital. Many members have made things that she takes for her preemies there.
