Minutes:
    7:10 pm: Meeting Called to Order   Evelyn Van Orden, President    17 members were present.
    A. Approval of Minutes    Marsha Stoddard, Secretary
        1. Minutes of the February 2 General Meeting were posted on the website and a hardcopy provided at the meeting. They were approved.
    B. Thanks for Treats    Cathy Wacker, Hospitality
        1. Cathy thanked Lili Horjea and Sue Dietel for the yummy treats.
    C. Treasurer's Report    Jerri Nicol, Treasurer
        1. Evelyn reported that the balance in our treasury is now $914.24.
    D. Announcements    Members

        1. We heard from Michelle Tang, who was unable to come due to schedule conflicts as well as gas prices. Michelle lives in Diamond Bar! And Becky Goodman was ill. We missed you both.
        2. Marsha read a letter from Operation Gratitude, thanking us for our many donations of hats and scarves for the troops. The boxes were sent out in December. Thanks to those of you who contributed items.
        3. Evelyn and Janice Ogata mentioned that the L.A. County Fair knit/crochet contest is a fun thing to enter. The deadline for mailing in entries is June 28; the deadline for entries that are delivered to the Fairgrounds is sometime in early July. Both Janice and Evelyn have entered in the past.         4. Sue Dietel has arranged a display of items made for our various charities in a case at the La Canada Library for the month of February. The library now wants to keep the display up through March, as they have had so much good response from it. Sue will return the items to us at the April meeting.
        5. Our member Kimberly Smith is pregnant with twins, a boy and a girl! The babies are due in late June or early July. Evelyn announced that we will have a shower for her at the May meeting.
    E. Philanthropy    Judy Gregory, VP Philanthropy
        1. Judy announced that she continues to collect and send items for Afghans for Afghanistan. These items are for children aged 7–16, such as vests, hats, sweaters, socks, and blankets, and should be wool only. We can also make wool afghan blocks of any size, using worsted weight yarn in a firm (not holey) pattern. She prefers garter stitch. She collects them and then puts them together to make afghans. Thank you, Judy, for your dedication to this organization and for sending all our things.
        2. Betty Molinaro reminded us that Christ Child Society always takes our baby things: blankets, hats, booties, sweaters. She will collect them each month.
        3. Kathy Fogel asked about a knitting term on the label of the yarn she is using for a project. The term, which was new for most of us, was “irrestringible”. According to Judy, it is the same as “superwash”, which means “washable”.
    F. La Cañada Library Display
        1. Sue Dietel has arranged a display of items made for our various charities in a case at the La Cañada Library for the month of February. Due to the popularity of the display, the library has requested that the display continue through the month of March. This is similar to the display arranged by Jerri Thomson at the Eagle Rock Library in December.
        2. Sue will return all display items to us at the April meeting. She brought a picture she took of the display for us to see. Thank you for all your efforts, Sue!
