        1. Evelyn designed and crocheted a beautiful gold centerpiece which she showed at the February meeting. She and Judy have submitted it and other patterns to the Kraemer Yarn company to be offered on their website for free. In return, the company will send to Judy free yarn, some of which can be used by our group for charity knitting.
        2. Jerri Nicol announced that she will make JCK name tags to attach to our items to donate. Let her know if you need some: jerrinicol@sbcglobal.net
        3. Jerri N. also said that Needle in a Haystack will give a 20% discount to those who bring to the shop their donations for Knit for the Cure. The shop deadline is March 10.
    D. Philanthropy    Judy Gregory, VP Philanthropy (not at the meeting)
        1. Betty Molinaro and Jerri N. took all the baby items that they have collected this past year to the Christ Child Society gathering. They took 163 items from our group!!
        2. Our member Kimberly Smith is a nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Children’s Hospital. They always need baby items for the preemies there. She will give measurements and a list of the items needed to Evelyn, and we will send the information out in an email. Lynne Emery suggested that our next project could be making things as a group for Kimberly’s work. They mainly need 20” X 20” blankets, booties, and bereavement gowns. The items don’t need to be washed, as they have a woman who does that for them. More information will follow during the month.
        3. ChildSHARE is an organization that matches foster/adoptive families with abused or abandoned children, aged infant through teen. When the children are placed in homes, they each receive a special packet of things to keep. Included in each pack is a handmade item, like stuffed toys or blanket. ChildSHARE is happy to receive any donations from us. Contact Marsha if you have questions: stoddard@pacbell.net
        4. Michelle Tang donated some small handmade bunnies each made from a knitted square. She will show us at the April meeting how to make these bunnies. We should each bring a 5” X 5” garter-stitched square, 18” of the same yarn and a needle for fitting the bunny together, and a little stuffing material.
    E. Knit for the Cure    Evelyn Van Orden, Jennifer Minzey, Michelle Bernal
        1. Knit for the Cure takes place at the Rose Bowl Area H on Saturday, March 15 from 7am-12noon.
        2. The Komen Foundation sets up a large tent/canopy, and as part of their presentations, our group has tables where we sell the hundreds of donated handmade items. The proceeds from the sales go to the L.A. County Chapter of the Susan G. Komen Foundation for breast cancer prevention, education, research, and treatment. Michelle said that they have received donations from all over the country. This year there will also be entertainment provided by the Komen Foundation.
